The Livestock and Forestry Branch Station is a part of the Department of Animal Science. Its mission is to provide research and education programs that improve the profitability and sustainability of beef cattle production in Arkansas. The areas of emphasis include management and production of warm and cool-season forages, nutritional and reproduction management of beef cows, development of year-round. forage-based stocker cattle programs and studies on health and parisitology.

The release of shortleaf and loblolly pine seedlings planted in Ozark hardwood forests is the primary thrust of the forest research at this station. Herbicides have been applied by various methods to determine which herbicides and what application is the most effective in removing hardwood species.
