Research Overview
I perform agronomic research to increase our understanding of physiological yield-limiting factors of the rice plant and crop. In particular, I want to develop physiologically based selection criteria for increasing plant breeding efficiency. Also, I hope to find ways to manage the crop more effectively based on sound understanding of the crop's physiology.
I have recently developed a Rice Growth Staging System for improved communication between rice researchers. This work will provide meaningful and more consistent identification of rice growth stages when treatments, plant response and environmental conditions are observed and measured.
