Soil Testing and Research Laboratory The Soil Testing and Research Laboratory at Marianna is adjacent to the Dan Felton, Jr., Building at the Lon Mann Cotton Research Center.
Soil Samples must be submitted through a county Cooperative Extension Service (CES) office. The CES office will provide sample containers and submission forms as well as instructions for proper soil sampling and will mail the samples to the Soil Testing Laboratory. Additional services are provided for analysis of soil organic matter, plant tissue nutrient levels and soil texture. The Laboratory also conducts extensive research on soil and plant nutrition management in cooperation with other Division of Agriculture scientists. Funding for the Laboratory is provided by a fee assessed by the State of Arkansas on fertilizer sales in the state. The Laboratory tests approximately 100,000 soil samples and 5,000 plant samples annually.
