Variety Testing of Corn, Soybean and Grain Sorghum
D. Dombek
Southwest Research and Extension Center

Program web site: http://www.arkansasvarietytesting.org

Corn, soybean and grain sorghum variety performance tests are conducted each year at locations representing the major production regions for these crops. In southwest Arkansas, these tests are usually located in producers fields and are cooperatively managed by the producer and SWREC personnel.

Approximately 50 corn hybrids and 35 grain sorghum hybrids are tested each year. About 60 soybean varieties are tested for their adaptation to the Early Season Soybean Production system and an additional 150+ varieties are tested using conventional production practices. Yield and other important characteristics are reported for each variety. The results of these tests provide unbiased information about the performance of hybrids and varieties for southwest Arkansas producers.

Test results are available at county Cooperative Extension Service offices and can also be found on the web site.
