A Message from Our Director
Our mission at the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station is to serve the people of Arkansas by delivering relevant and impactful food, agriculture and forestry research. We strive to conduct meaningful research and generate new discoveries and technologies that lead to an increasingly resilient Arkansas economy, more sustainable and profitable agricultural practices and a safe, nutritious food supply.
In recent years, experiment station scientists have released dozens of new crop cultivars and fruit varieties, developed novel technologies to protect animal health, and generated new jobs through related startups. More than 85% of the Division of Agriculture’s technologies are licensed, with 341 active licenses resulting in $3.2M in licensing revenue in 2021. The Division of Agriculture spent nearly $70M on research that year and generated 18 patents and 27 invention disclosures.
I invite you to explore our recent research highlights and stay up to date with the experiment station through our news page. I am proud of our talented faculty and staff, who are working hard to advance agricultural sciences and develop technologies that transform the lives of Arkansans and beyond.
